Trusted. Experienced. Local.

With deep roots in diagnostic imaging and a commitment to patient care, Korus is proud to play a role in making healthcare more accessible through Community Diagnostic Centres.

Providing Ultrasound diagnostics in the community

Community Diagnostic Centres (CDCs) are a national initiative designed to make key health services more accessible — offering diagnostic tests and scans in local, outpatient settings. These centres help reduce hospital waiting times and make it easier for patients to get the care they need, closer to home.

At Korus, we’re proud to deliver the ultrasound service within several of these centres, working alongside InHealth and local NHS trusts. With over 15 years of experience and more than half a million ultrasound scans carried out, we bring a proven track record of safe, high-quality care to every patient we see.

What should I expect at my scan?

WHAT IS AN ULTRASOUND?
An ultrasound is a safe, risk-free examination involving the use of sound waves to build up images of the body. A small hand-held probe is pressed against the skin surface using an ultrasound Gel and moved in different directions in order to take and store images of the organs and structures within the body.

How should I prepare for my scan?

WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE EXAMINATION?
You will be invited to lie down on an examination couch and loosen your clothing to allow the sonographer to scan your abdomen. It is important that you wear loose fitting clothing for this to happen. The ultrasound probe and gel will then be moved around on your skin, during which time you may be asked to turn from one side onto the other as well as being asked to hold your breath from time to time. The examination will take approximately 15 minutes after which time the gel will be wiped off and you will be free to get dressed and go. There are no side-effects and you will be able to eat and drink normally after the examination.

If you have any additional questions the sonographer who does your examination will be only too pleased to answer them.
